SLR cameras
The SLR or Single-lens Reflex camera works by a single lens that focuses the image to a semi-automatically moving mirror system beneath which lies the film. Digital SLR cameras have a digital imaging system instead of the film. The main advantage of SLR cameras is that what we see as the image to be captured is exactly recorded on the film. Unlikely the pre-SLR cameras have an additional image perception region for us to view the image and this viewed image will be a little different in dimensions from the image focussed through the lens. Thus the image what we expect to be captured is not exactly the one recorded in the film. To overcome this problem, TLR or Twin lens reflex cameras were used in prior to the development of SLR cameras. They were very keen in capturing images at middle and long distances. Their problem was that parallax error would occur while focussing close-up images. Moreover it is not an easy task to capture images at low light using these Twin reflex cameras. SLR cameras have overcome all these disadvantages and prove to be a very useful instrument to professional photographers.
